Best fire staff and upgrades?
Hi, I currently have a Fire wand, and I like it and all, but I think a staff would work better since I could put wraps on it to get my skills up higher (my fire is currently at 16!)
So, I have heard people say the Chaos Axe is the best Axe, and the Storm Bow is the best bow, but what is the best staff? (Preferably a fire staff) What is the best staff upgrade you can find? Thank you for your help! |

I actually use collectors weapons. I'll take my collectors axe over the chaos, and my collector bows over the storm and yes I have a collectors +10 energy, 20%, 20%, max dmg staff that I modded. 5 frigid hearts and outside of the ice caves of sorrow you can get the same fire staff and modd it to your style of play. Be it more health, more def., longer ench. etc.

There is no "best" anything in this game. It all depends on preference, your playing style/skills, and whether looks matters to you at all.
Ideally, the "best" fire staff you can get is one that has a 7 requirement in fire magic, gives +10 energy and does 11-22 damage. Each staff has two upgrades you can apply to it (a staff head and a staff wrapping). The most desired staff heads are +5 energy and +30 health, although some like +5 armor. The most desired staff wrappings are +30 health, +20% longer enchantments (not so useful for a fire mage) and +1 fire magic skills (20% chance). Each staff also has two inherent modifiers in it, but the most likely you would be looking for would be one that provides a 10% chance of better skill recharge and a 10% chance of better casting speed (or 20% of each while using fire magic skills). Hopefully that helps! |

This is actually a spot where Green Ele staves are about as good as you go. (depending on what mods you want on them of course)
The Flame saff give max dmg, +15 energy and cast and recharge for fire 20% and ench. last 20% longer. It doesn't have the HP+30, but I actually find that the ench mod better. Hopefully I won't need the extra 30HP as an ele being far enough back to hit. The ench bonus is great for fire attunement and conjure flame, etc. The Water magic green The Fleshcleaver is the same as above but has the HP+30 instead of the enchant +20% I think the weakest of the ele staves is probably Brimstone staff because of the Armor +7 v elemental dmg, but that is just preference. The other staves for monk, mesmer and necro are a little weirder but in general I like them very much. For necros my blood necro I actually prefer to use the green Gordac's needle along with the collector's soul reaping cesta. It gives an extra amount of energy which is something I like but at the cost of a minus 1 pip on en regen. But with soul reaping it isn't usually an issue for me. Hope that helps. |

Totally agree with posts above about there not really being a "perfect" weapon, and that it's dependent upon the players style and situation. However, I think you will be VERY happy with the Rago set. The Acolyte |

Rago set is cool (but expensive) or colectors (desert colectores have this stuff) wand and focus (40% fast casting, 20% recharge time, good to slow cast spells) ...

Depends on the green vs collector's equipment as to which one I like.
Collectors in Crystal Desert & Shiver peeks offer you the best max damage / best max mod weapons for sheeer monster drops. Agree with everyone else, these is no "prefect" weapon but weapons that best match to your build(s) and the skills you use. Collector's and Green's offer you high quailty weapons with little fuss or massive gold costs (for gold weapons with max stats). I'm just trying this out over the past few days, but what I'm carrying right now are:
Galigord's Staff (for casting enchantments -- cheaper than buying an equivalent staff mod) The collector's fire staff with armor mods (I found it easy to get to +9 defense, but not +10; staff wrappings of +5 defense are pretty rare) as my main weapon The collector's fire wand and flame artifact for maximum chance of fast recharge when I have Ether Renewal up (the elite I'm running right now, since I haven't yet capped the other good elementalist energy boosting elites). I also happen to have bought a wand with +13 energy/-1 energy regen for utter energy emergencies. Dunno if that will prove useful in PvE, but it might come in handy in PvP some time. It's actually an air wand, but that doesn't matter for the energy mods. |
